One of the most important things for any new artist to be aware of is that artists very often do not paint or draw their most impressive pieces right when they pick up their first paint brush or pen during kids drawing classes. Even many of the painters who have become legendary artists did not begin life like a paintbrush wielding Mozart creating visual symphonies by the time they could walk. It's important to impress upon any beginning artist that talent must be nurtured and should be allowed to grow. Making mistakes and finding one's own true artistic vision takes time.
